6 tips to keep your passwords safe

6 tips to keep your passwords safe

Are your online passwords safe? Are they safe because you have memorized the one that you consistently use? Are they safe because you have a special code that nobody can break? Are they safe because they are written down and behind lock and key?  There are Hackers out there who will stop at nothing to get at your personal information. In fact, on July 12th, 2012, Yahoo, who has very formidable protection for all their users, was hacked and the personal information of over 400,000 people was stolen.

How do you protect yourself from Hackers? Our dads didn’t need to know how to do that back before Al Gore invented the internet. Now we have to.  We must protect ourselves. On this episode we give you 6 tips on how to keep yourself safe from Hackers and other online security breaches, plus we teach you more than a little about the safety of your PIN codes. Do you know how easy they are to break? Don’t be part of the 25%!

We begin the episode with a story about Fatherpreneurship. It’s a difficult balance but some very successful men have found a way to live both lives and be successful in the office and at home. If you have been afraid to ask those questions, don’t worry, we deliver the answers for you.

Why embarrassing your kids is a great thing to do

Why embarrassing your kids is a great thing to do

Has your Dad ever embarrassed you? How bad was it really? As a dad, I am pretty sure I have made my boys blush. President Obama did it to his daughter, Malia, and while some focused on what he said, if you listened closely you heard ideas that inspired his daughter and made her better.

Todd goes solo and talks about how we as Dads can have an impact on our kids. The choices we make are critical and whether it is sending your kids to public or private school, or listening to our kids rather than telling them what or how to do something. It’s not a rant, it’s a discovery, it’s an opportunity to learn something that may change the way you parent.

Also is Oregon fixing their school system? Does their new scoring system help schools and ultimately support the kids?

If I died today, what would my child remember about me?

If I died today, what would my child remember about me?

What would you want your children to remember about you if you were to die today? Is it that he works too hard? Was it that Dad was never around? Was it that Dad was often angry when he came home?

So many parents say the traditional phrase, “I want them to remember that I always put them first. That everything I did, I did for them.” Blah, blah, blah. Let’s come up with something original. Todd has three words for his kids. He also pontificates about the advice he would pass on to his kids. What would it be?

Also, why is Proctor & Gamble sticking it to Dads in many of their recent ads? They made us all look terrible in a diaper ad. Now they have done it again with a 2012 London Olympic Games ad. What is going on? Why don’t they feel Dads are capable of doing anything? Come Father’s Day, they better turn this ship around.

Hey! What are you doing down there?

Hey! What are you doing down there?

As a man and a father, there are many things that we treasure. But deep down, we may treasure the fact that we can procreate over all things. So when the day comes that a man makes the decision to get a Vasectomy, it can be difficult.

Kent recently had the procedure performed and took us through the pre, the post and the pain. There were funny moments. There were endearing moments when two men talked about what scared them, and what empowered them by making this ultimate sacrifice.

It’s a conversation that whether you are or are not thinking about taking the plunge you should listen to, and then discuss with friends. Enjoy.

Do Dads play a more important role than Mom in their kids’ lives?

Do Dads play a more important role than Mom in their kids’ lives?

It’s a good question, and one that is hard to answer. However, there is no doubt that Dads role or lack thereof can have very damaging effects on their children. Author Dr. Meg Meeker joined Todd to talk about two of her best-selling books, “Strong Father, Strong Daughters and “Boys should be Boys”. Her insight into the bond between a father and child that can be created by the simple acts of love and connection was amazing. Whether you have a daughter or only sons, this episode is one full of resources, knowledge and humor. Dr. Meg Meeker is a pediatrician who has raised three girls and a boy in Northern Michigan and now shares her experiences with all of us. It’s high time someone helped out Dads as we all stumble towards the authentic life.

Dads Unplugged – Time to Man Up!

Newsweek writes “Man Up!” on their cover. Todd and Kent react to the article. Does America and their men need to Man Up? What’s wrong with us? What’s right with Sweden, Germany, Japan and others? Would you as a father take 4 months off work to be with your newborn? Man needs to change, how is the question. We have many opinions.

Kids, Sports, Dads and Bowling

Kent and Todd didn’t focus on the bowling, that was bad and got worse as the night progressed at Players. The show on pagatim.fm allowed Dads to talk about their kids and sports, plus what type of role did sports play in their lives when they were young and as they are in the workforce now. Lots of myths were debunked and stories told.
